My Opinion: A great series!
I've just realised that I only wrote a review for the first volume, I guess I wanted to wait until I read all of them.
You can read about the 1st volume HERE. To add to that, I can say that the series really improved with each new installment:
- Morgan became stronger and stronger, more self-confident, less annoying though her insecurities couldn't disappear just like that. This is what I liked in the series, Morgan stayed true to herself while improving, maturing. She didn't suddenly transformed into a super heroine, super confident, super strong who doesn't have any doubts. I ended up really liking her as a character and feeling for her.
- The rest of the characters were all very nicely written. Of course, some were more developed than others but each had something to bring. Even the villains were really interesting.
I especially enjoyed that two books were dedicated to one character and their own story: Seeker (the 10th book) was about Hunter and his father; and in Reckoning, it was all about Alisa. It seems that some people had troubles with those books as they were different from the rest but I actually loved them (though I found Reckoning to be a bit botched, I would have liked more).
- The different points of view. If well-done, it is something I like better than sticking to only one character's since it allows us to become more familiar with the others.
- The writing. How much did it improve!! Each book was a true page-turner, I just couldn't stop reading. It was easy, simple to read and yet so fascinating and exciting! Again, the writing wasn't anything spectacular or difficult but that's what made it so enjoyable.
- The stories. Each new story, plot, discovery, difficulty,..., were truly interesting and thrilling. Of course, some were better than others but Cate Tiernan was able to keep us entertained through 15 novels.
- Wicca. I enjoyed how it was described, presented. I would have loved a little glossary with all the rituals, the feasts, etc. though.
I don't really have anything to complain about. Not that it was perfect and that everybody could only love the series but there was nothing to annoyed me. Ok, well, there was one thing: the last book made me so emotional, I had to wait a few days before reading again after the first few pages. I couldn't understand what was the author doing, why she had made those choices but fortunately, I kept reading and ended up enjoying it a lot.
To summarize: I can only recommend this series to everybody who enjoys fantasy. Don't let the first books discourage you, it really gets better and better.
